Preheat oven to 325℉. Grease a 9x13 pan. (I used a stainless steel cake pan greased with butter.)
In a large mixing bowl add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until combined.
Add in melted butter and using a fork, whisk, or your hands stir together until crumbly. Break up the larger crumbs.
Set aside 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture.
In a small bowl whisk your eggs, milk, and vanilla together and add the mixture to the crumb mixture. Stir until combined. There will be clumps and that's okay!
Pour the batter into prepared pan. Dribble your pie filling over the cake evenly. Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of crumbs that you set aside over the pie filling and bake at 325℉ for 40-45 minutes. (This may vary with ovens and pan used.) Remove from oven, cool on a cooling rack, cut into squares, and serve. *You can eat it warm if you'd like. We do and it stays together well.*
