This homemade granola is easy and can be a healthy replacement for breakfast cereals! You can make it your own by swapping out for other add-ins, too!
When I started milling my own flour, it led me to look into flaking my own oats for favorite recipes. There is just so much goodness when you start with the whole food. You get all of the nutrition and an unbeatable flavor. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a flaker, you can use already rolled oats for this recipe, too!
Jump to RecipeAfter searching, I ended up starting with a manual KoMo FlicFloc Oat/Grain Flaker from Pleasant Hill Grain. This is a great way to flake your own oat groats into rolled oats. It’s great to have on hand for small quantities and kids have fun helping make their breakfast.
We bake A LOT in our house and in big quantities a lot of times to share with neighbors and family. That got me on the search for an electric flaker. I bought the flaker attachment for the Bosch Universal Plus. They also sell attachments for the KitchenAid and Ankarsrum mixers.

Pumpkin Flax Homemade Granola
Ingredients
- 3½ cups rolled oats if using a Flaker: flake 1¾ cups oat groats for this.
- ½ cup coconut flakes I used fine shredded. You can use whatever you prefer.
- 1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
- ¼ cup flax seeds
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup butter or coconut oil
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250℉ and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add all dry ingredients to a bowl and mix to combine.
- Melt butter/Coconut oil. Remove from heat and add syrup, honey, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir well until evenly combined.
- Spread onto baking sheet in an even layer. I like to press it down tight with a spatula.
- Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes and remove from oven. It will get crunchy as it cools.
- Once cooled you can break apart and store in an airtight container.
